An Attorney who is in Good Standing with the Southern District of California:

• has been duly admitted to practice before the Southern District of California
• is not currently suspended or disbarred
• is currently registered with the District Court
• is not in arrears in the payment of any fees required by the Court

A US Southern District of California Attorney Good Standing Certificate is a one page document issued by the Clerk of the District Court which bears the seal of the Court and signature of the Clerk of the Court. 

An appearance before the US Southern District of California on behalf of another party or a class may be made only by an Attorney who has been admitted to the Bar of or permitted to practice before the Court. 

Any attorney who is an active member in good standing of the Bar of the State of California may apply to become a member of the Bar of the Southern District of California.

A valid expiration date is not written on a Southern District of California Attorney Good Standing Certificate.  The validity of a Southern District of California Attorney Certificate of Good Standing is usually determined by the intended recipient of the Good Standing Certificate.

Some jurisdictions require that the date on an Attorney Good Standing Certificate be within 30-60 days of its intended use while other jurisdictions will accept a Certificate which was issued less than one year ago.

• The Attorney must not be subject to any court orders which prohibit the practice of law in the state of California
